As a kid i loved riding in the car, cuddled tight into my corner of the backseat with the window rolled down, my eyes closed and the wind blowing right into my face. i'd bring along a blanket and cover up if it was chilly, but as long as i could feel the wind, i was so very content. It was a bonus if mama had the radio turned up enough for me to hear the music over the wind. i don't ever remember her telling me to roll up my window, so i'm thinking she was fine with it as long as it kept my brother and me from fighting over exactly where the middle of the backseat was.
Nowadays, it's a very rare thing for the situation to be conducive to my doing that. So, i settle for having my window down and the music loud when i'm driving alone at night. But occasionally i'll flash back to the "good times" and wish i could ride around like i did then.
Maybe i'll take a really long ride in a cab.
Nah...i'm way too cheap for that.
